It’s a new week, chickens! Another chance to do better.
I have made some serious progress in my search for my bliss. Last Thursday Jack and I attended the newest lecture in the Indiana University Jorgensen Guest Filmmaker Lecture Series. It was with writer, producer, director, Jeremy Kagan. Mr. Kagan is a tenured professor at the University of Southern California Film School as well as one of the leading members of The Directors Guild of America. It was a great one-on-one discussion covering his career, insights into the film and TV industry followed by the viewing of two of his films, The Chosen and The Journey of Natty Gann. The Chosen, starred Robby Benson, who is currently on staff at IU. He and Mr. Kagan had a discussion after the viewing of The Chosen that was really fun, enlightening and informative. There was genuine respect and affection between them.It was my pleasure to meet both of them and chat for a bit.
The point of all of this is that I was completely happy. I described it as like being in a cartoon where a shaft of sparkling light comes down from heaven and I was lifted off the ground, surrounded in its warmth. It wasn’t entirely about meeting these men. It was learning more about the mechanics of film making, of how the puzzle pieces fit together, about how serendipity and chance play about as big a part as does education and talent. I was consumed and in my bliss.
You ask, “What does this mean? How does this impact your life?” I have no idea! But in my quest to follow my bliss I am connecting the dots one experience at a time. I’ll keep you posted! I leave you with this.
Here’s wishing you an amazing week!
You are loved,
