See this arm? It and it’s partner have had a great life. They have given thousands of hugs, thrown softballs and bowling balls, cheered at sporting events, carried babies, worked together to swim miles and millions of other services over the years. But, keeping it 100% real, I allowed them to go slack, flabby and inactive. They only have memories of being lean, cut and sculpted. They are 60 years old but not down and out. We had a chat, which I thought was a fair thing to do in the light that I will be asking more of them. They were indifferent at first. THEN I started using them. UGH! Did they complain! I think that they were in shock! But that’s ok. I expected it…and the pain.
I have combined my walking with some simple arm workouts. No weights or bands yet. Just some basic movements to work the muscles gradually. I started with ‘against the wall push ups’ and backward arm presses against a table or countertop using my body weight as leverage. My arms are troopers and I am grateful for their years of faithful service. They will thank me when they are back in shape this summer!
Are you having a good week? Are you moving? I have been faithful every day of the workweek walking with my Fitbit. I have decided to enjoy the weekends which naturally include more movement. I have been drinking lots of water with lemon and ginger peach green tea sweetened with Stevia. I have followed a pretty solid eating plan, cutting way back on carbs and the “white stuff” and eating more vegetables throughout the week with a fun date meal over the weekend. I am beginning to see some positive change which is encouraging and exciting. My baby steps are growing more confident day by day. Please hang with me. We can do this together!
Here’s wishing you a wonderful weekend!
You are loved,
