Hello, friends!
I wear many hats in my life; wife, mother, grandmother, blogger, caretaker, CFO, to name a few. But none is more important to me than caring for my family. In order to do that properly I had to take off several hats, one of which was that of blogger.
As I’ve previously posted, our oldest son, Lucas, and his wife Courtney, have our first grandchild, a bouncing ball of energy named Hudson. He is 16 months old. Courtney has had a difficult pregnancy and has had to have many visits to the Doctor over the past few months. Her due date was May 10th, but as things progressed it became evident that she would not make that date. I had the privilege of watching Hudson while she went to those appointments. But on Monday, April 18th, she was told to check into the hospital on Tuesday night for induction the following morning. She was to be prepared for the birth of a 7 lb baby girl. However, things went a different direction and Courtney had a cesarean section early Wednesday morning. At 6:42 on Wednesday, April 20th, we were welcomed by an 11 lb, 6 0z, 22″ long baby girl named Penelope Jean. She was full of surprises including a head full of thick, black hair.
She was born with several issues that needed attention and spent 11 days in Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Our daughter, Lauren, drove home from Virginia to help me care for Hudson during that time. It was a lot of fun for us getting to know him on a deeper level. But no one except her parents got to hold Penelope until yesterday afternoon when they brought her home.
It has been a tremendously busy time for all of us but we are incredibly happy, grateful and overflowing with joy! It gives me deep pleasure to introduce you to the newest member of our family, my second grandchild and first granddaughter, Miss Penelope Jean Calhoun. She is a living doll and is surrounded by and welcomed with love!
Until next time!
You are loved,
