This time of year always brings the harvesting of corn and soybeans in my neck of the woods. The weather was ideal and the combines and semi’s were going full speed ahead. Great for the farmers and the local economy, terrible for my allergies. I’ve been diffusing lavender, lemon and peppermint (Spark Naturals LLP blend) and applying it liberally on the old body. Thank God for my oils! They are a godsend and I am so thankful every day for them. So with that this has been a fairly quiet weekend. Friday night was spent home reading a book while Jack worked late. I was so sleepy that I know we watched something on TV but have no idea what or how it ended. Saturday morning was spent running errands and we ended up where else but at the movies.
The testosterone was running deep for this twofer but I didn’t mind. The first one was “The Equalizer” with Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz, followed by “No Good Deed” with Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson. These are two that my brothers would like. Both of them had lots of action and plenty of heart. Denzel plays a loner with a secret past who helps two underdogs and encourages them to succeed. Through one of these characters he gains unwanted attention from the Russian mob and, of course, being Denzel, has to show them a thing or two. Good movie. 4 stars in my book.
“No Good Deed” at first blush appears to be your typical escaped-prisoner-victimizes-defenseless-housewife movie. But it runs much deeper and stronger. I found that I enjoyed it very much. As a bonus for me, the two houses in which they were set were lovely…thumbs up to the set-decorators and designers. We had some good discussion on the way home. 3 1/2 stars for me.
I enjoyed my Sunday. Jack had to work so I spent it focusing on a several projects which I will feature here soon. I finished my book, caught up on some TV (have you been watching Outlander? OMG!!!) and made a big, pot of chili. My daughter, Lauren, mentioned it on Facebook and it sounded perfect to me.
I hope your weekend was restful and filled your reserves for this upcoming week!
Sending love and light your way,
Dana
