Happy Monday, Friends!
I hope your weekend was restful, rejuvenating and all you hoped it would be. Mine was lovely. Friday night Sam brought his new girlfriend, Allie, home to “meet the folks.” It was a fun and relaxing evening and we look forward to getting to know her better. We went to Mi Pueblo, our local Mexican restaurant, which is Sam’s favorite, followed by a thrilling (super sarcastic face! ) trip to Walmart. It’s always a quick in and out for me there. Anxiety fills me just entering the doors but I needed a couple of things that I could only get there. Is this a common emotion? YEESH! Anyway, board games were on the list. We hadn’t bought any for ages and it was time. We purchased HedBanz, Apples to Apples, Taboo and Wiki Trivia. We played Wiki Trivia and Headbanz when we got home and it was such fun!! I’m really looking forward to having all the kids home for the holidays to play board games together.
Saturday afternoon we watched Hudson so Lucas and Courtney could go to a concert at IU. He is really getting to be fun and mischievous. He loves books, which tickles me spitless, his favorite being Dr. Seuss’s “10 Apples Up on Top.” He carries it around with him. He even napped with it. So cute. Courtney sent a video last week that I wanted to share with you. It’s of Hudson laughing at the TV.
While he was napping I ran to Bath and Body Works to take advantage of the $8.50, 3 wick candle sale. The lines were insane! I ran in and out as quickly as I could. With coupons I got them for $6 each, regularly $22. SCORE!
Sunday we slept in late. We both needed it. Jack spent an hour or so playing old hymns on the piano. It fed my soul in a real way. Love those old songs and he plays them so beautifully!
In the afternoon we went to see Creed. Friends, you need to see this one! Not to negate all the Rocky sequels, some of which were real stinkers, but this one is right up there with the original Rocky. It’s not a sequel but Sylvester Stallone is amazing as the aging Rocky Balboa and Michael B. Jordan is emotionally raw and impressive as Adonis Creed. Phylicia Rashad, Tessa Thompson and Gavin McTavish (Dougal from Outlander) are wonderful in the supporting roles. This one is full of heart and when the Rocky theme played toward the end I raised my arms above my head in triumph! Flying how now….this one is a winner!
Here’s wishing you a great week!
You are loved,
Dana
