Greetings, friends!
Have you heard of the Pro-Age Movement? Until recently I hadn’t either. But there is a ground swell out there and I am thrilled to jump on the bandwagon. For me, it all started with my hair. I was ready to get off the coloring hamster wheel and more than ready to embrace whatever was under the hood. My Grandmother had snow-white hair at a young age so I was excited to see if I followed in her footsteps. I was so happy to see that it’s mostly white on the top, front and sides and a little more pewter in the back. It’s a process to I which I needed some time to adjust. Sometimes I look in the mirror I am still surprised. But happy.
I am 60 and with that comes a lot of celebration. I welcome it and with that I have sought out others in the same boat. Come to find out a number of us out there who are finding ourselves in a new mindset. We are excited about this phase of life. We see our wrinkles as badges of a well-lived life. Smile lines are from years of experiencing joy. We are seeking inner peace and joy and seeing that beauty comes from the inside out. It’s about being healthy and mentally vibrant. Instead of fighting the changes and the images we see in our mirrors we embrace them. I love the notion of being Pro-Aging instead of “anti” aging. It’s so much more positive, don’t you think?
One of the pioneers of this movement is a woman named Cindy Joseph. She was a professional makeup artist for famous models for decades. At the age of 49 she was standing on a corner in New York City visiting with a friend when a talent scout for a modeling agency spotted her and asked if he could take a Polaroid of her. She kindly obliged thinking nothing of it. After all, she is not anyones idea of a perfect model. Well over the age for modeling she has long, grey hair, is of average height and weight. But before she knew it she was signed to the Ford Modeling Agency and was doing a campaign for Dolce and Gabbana. That was over 16 years ago and she has never looked back. You can see her in magazines and on billboards all over the country. She is now in her mid-60’s and amazing!
There are several pages on Facebook which support this, especially about embracing your true hair color; Gray and Proud and Going Gray, Looking Great. You can follow Cindy Joseph on BOOM by Cindy Joseph. I am stopped frequently by women who think I’m brave for taking this big step. But if you check out these pages you will see that I am not alone. It’s a really cool thing!
So, friends, what do you think? Shall we put on different glasses and see ourselves in a more positive light? I think it’s a better way to live.
Until next time,
You are loved,

You look great! I’m 42, but someone asked me not to long ago, if I could back, which age would I like to be? I said, I’m good… now is good. I’ve been hearing the won’t you dye your hair business? I’ve been going white since 15. My father, I have his coloring, was white in his early 40’s, so I’ve known it was coming and you what…I’m good. Really nice blog. I followed you here from the FB page.

I, too was inspired by Cindy Joseph. I came over here from one of those FB pages. I just started using her Boom products, and couldn’t be happier. It does feel really brave to grow out our hair to our natural color, and it is so striking, and a big improvement from dying, on everyone that I’ve seen. Great post!
